Open Letter to The Wall Street Journal

On Friday, October 19, 2012, the Wall Street Journal published a news article with the headline: “Early Uncertainty on Libya Account” by Adam Entous and Siobhan Gorman. The article was a convoluted account of United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice’s duplicity (lies) about the Benghazi attack. The Wall Street Journal article followed the latest White House narrative that laid blame on the intelligence community. I wrote the Journal the flowing letter.

Dear sirs,

With the exception of a couple sentences, this “World News” article reads like an unedited press release by the White House. Entous and Gorman are guilty of bias, slothfulness, or lack of professional skills. Despite the shoddy reporting, the article did bring up a few questions in this reader’s mind.

1. Was the lengthy and repeated miscommunication the fault of the State department or the intelligence community? The blame seems to keep shifting.
2. Who has been fired or at least demoted for such gross incompetence?
3. Why did it take our intelligence community so long to revise its talking points when a few news organizations and most aware Americans immediately knew the original narrative defied common sense? Why were some news organizations able to immediately find witnesses that eluded our intelligence community?
4. Were dates dispersed throughout the article to give the impression of a condensed timeline?
5. Other than an attempt to plant a narrative, is there any other reason Ambassador Rice would appear on five Sunday shows?
6. Did the same party that denied Benghazi request for additional protection propagate the false narrative … and when that falsehood fell apart shift blame elsewhere?
