Desperate Sons by Les Standiford

Desperate Sons by Les Standiford
Early 18th Century America was a place where people enjoyed unparalleled freedom of opportunity, the ability to govern themselves to a hitherto unprecedented degree, and a standard of living which would have been the envy of their peers in England. It was only when England sought to exercise, what it saw as it's legitimate prerogatives, that the colonists began to chafe under British rule. The legislation passed and policies implemented by a tone-deaf government was all that Desperate Sons like Samuel Adams needed. This book is the story of men like Adams.

Thankful For What We Have … While It Lasts

This writer is finding it difficult to reconcile being thankful with being angry. Being thankful is easy. This nation was blessed with liberty and the natural resources to make the most of it. Yes, we did build it, the freest, most prosperous and generous nation the world has ever known.

Benghazi Limbo

The Limbo dance was very popular some years ago, it entails a series of steps culminating in dancers going under a stick single file without touching the stick or the floor. Those who do are eliminated. The stick is gradually lowered until only one dancer remains. Spectators call out “How low can you go?” As for the Benghazi Limbo, it too, has choreography.

It’s Just Not Fair!

During the recent presidential campaign, Barack Obama made much ado of fairness. The wealthy must pay their fair share, although “fair share” is never defined. Fairness, along with Diversity, can be considered two of the Holy Grails of liberalism. Without those two items, liberalism must fall back on excessive government spending and over-burdensome regulation, hardly things that are winning campaign issues - even for the Anointed One. Since we seem to be following Europe into the socialist abyss, socially, economically and politically, here are two recent stories that should give us pause.

Press Coverage …

There is a great line in the movie Princess Bride when the Spaniard Inigo Montoya, played by Mandy Patinkin replies to Vizzini, played by Wallace Shawn, after his umpteenth declaration of "Inconthevable!" "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Some Thoughts on America

WWTFT was launched as a means of chronicling its founders exploration of American history. Along the way, it has provided a soapbox upon which he and other writers have stood to proclaim what we view as grave dangers to the republic. As the first Obama administration wore on, our readers undoubtedly detected an increase in the stridency of our commentary. Some might say vitriol. Well, we would say, that is what comes from seeing what seems obvious to us - America is on the wrong track, politically, economically, and most importantly, culturally. We don't claim to have all the answers, but we have now spent close to a decade in man years studying the founding of America. (And this estimate is probably on the low side, when one considers the 7 years Jim spent researching for Tempest at Dawn.) But we will continue to share what we learn and hope that it sparks an interest in someone somewhere to do their own investigation. Today's article is an examination of this writer's conclusions about American exceptionalism.

Mugged by Ann Coulter

Ann Coulter's new book should be read to understand how the struggle for equal rights was won and why racial divisions are back some 40 years later. It documents the true history of civil rights and exposes the many hoaxes perpetrated upon the nation by the Democrat Party.
