The speech below was delivered by John Hancock on the 4th anniversary of the Boston Massacre.\u00c2\u00a0 Clearly, by 1774, the gloves were off.\u00c2\u00a0 To those who heard or read the speech, Hancock’s position was no longer ambiguous.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s a pretty good piece of political rhetoric, eulogizing those in the slain mob as “guiltless.”\u00c2\u00a0 However, there are also some interesting warnings against valuing luxury and comfort over freedom.<\/p>\n
